Scarifying keeps levels of thatch and moss at an acceptable level allowing the lawn to remain healthy. Not doing this will cause a thick layer building up, preventing rain draining underground where it is needed.

Dry patch in a lawn occurs when the soil becomes water repellent. As a consequence the grass suffers from severe drought. The result is the appearance of dead patches of grass. Grass will normally recover after a drought but dry patch will not recover. With a 3 month program of wetting agent it will condition the soil and aid the recovery.

Lawn Diseases

Leather jackets and Chafer grubs can destroy a lawn by eating the roots and stem bases. The first sign will be dead patches of grass, you may see birds pecking leaving small round holes in search of them. You will be able to see them if you roll back the turf or dig a couple of inches down. A simple treatment of Nematodes with plenty of water will resolve the problem.
